14 imagesFew things are better than sharing the stage with a band who have sold out the Hammersmith Apollo, London on a Saturday night! I took full advantage of my full-access media pass to shoot from every space I could find and using a combination of fast lenses and high ISO as flash was strictly forbidden. Thank goodness for great kit and software to get these shots for Elevation Music. All Images Copyright | Gareth Barton 2013

10 imagesSteven Faux is an award-winning composer of TV and film scores, as well as orchestral-choral music for concert performance and commercial release. You might have heard his work on David Attenborough’s Life of Birds (BBC1) which was nominated (with co-composer Ian Butcher) for an Ivor Novello Award for ‘Best TV Music’. Photographing Steven and the musicians for Elevation Music in the famous Studio 2 at Abbey Road was such a joy. I worked out that I was born on a day when The Beatles were in that very same room recording the White Album. All Images Copyright | Gareth Barton 2013

15 imagesTimes are changing, and it’s time for change in the way we eat. ‘The Forgotten Feast’ is both revolutionary in it’s approach, and fundamentally simple in its principles. The people behind The Forgotten Feast believe that the 20 million tonnes of annual food wastage that exists within our society is inexcusable. This wastage can take the form of fresh fish discarded into the sea, unusual cuts of meat unused through lack of demand, and the massive fruit and vegetable wastage right down the line from grower to supplier. Simply put The Forgotten Feast is a roaming restaurant that supports the ugly, the unwanted and the unloved. It creates an unforgettable celebration of taste that centres itself on the use of wild and seasonal foods, wasted foods and foods that have been forgotten or ignored by the modern world. Above is Tom Hunt the acclaimed eco-chef and founder of the Forgotten Feast. I shot this Valentine’s Banquet for the Forgotten Feast collaboration with Beattie Foundation and Recycle for London. 39 imagesThis assignment came about as I met with Langley House Trust to consider how they might update their image and their annual review. These portraits of their service users - ex-offenders, recovering drug and alcohol users, and mental health sufferers, along with their stories, now form the basis of all their communications. The annual review was launched at the House of Lords in October 2013.
